Resolution of Chronic Arm and Leg Weakness Following Chiropractic Care: A Case Report
Background: Weakness in the arms and legs is a clinically significant symptom that can stem from a wide range of neurological and musculoskeletal conditions, often leading to extensive diagnostic investigation. This report describes the outcome for a patient presenting with such symptoms who underwent chiropractic care. Methods: A retrospective review of a single patient case was conducted at Michigan Chiropractic Specialists in Garden City, MI. The case was selected based on a chief complaint of arm and leg weakness and a documented positive clinical outcome. Data regarding symptom history, clinical course, and resolution were extracted from existing patient records. Results: The patient presented with a five-month history of significant weakness in both the arms and legs, which had prompted investigation for neurological disease. Following a course of chiropractic treatment, the patient experienced a restoration of strength and an improvement in overall physical function. Quantitative metrics for pain and mobility were not available in the case file. Conclusion: This case report suggests that chiropractic evaluation and care may be considered for select patients with unexplained extremity weakness. The observed improvement highlights the potential role of addressing underlying spinal biomechanics. Further research with larger cohorts and standardized measures is warranted.
