Retrospective Case-Series: Improvements in Balance and Proprioception in Patients Undergoing Chiropractic Care at Radiance Chiropractic
Background: Balance and proprioception dysfunction can significantly impact daily activities and increase fall risk. This retrospective case-series investigates the outcomes of neurologically-based chiropractic care on balance and proprioception in a clinical setting. Methods: A retrospective review was conducted on 50 de-identified patient records from Radiance Chiropractic in Canonsburg, PA, presenting with impaired balance and proprioception. Patient outcomes were assessed using serial postural sway and cognitive-motor assessments. The primary outcome measure was the percentage improvement in total sway scores. Results: Across 50 patients, the mean mobility improvement, as measured by a reduction in total sway scores, was 56%, with a median improvement of 56%. Individual cases demonstrated substantial improvements in postural stability and cognitive function. For example, one patient experienced a 69% reduction in total sway score over 13 weeks. Conclusions: Neurologically-based chiropractic care at Radiance Chiropractic appears to be associated with significant improvements in balance and proprioception in patients presenting with dysfunction. These findings suggest a potential role for chiropractic interventions in addressing balance-related challenges and enhancing overall stability.
