Resolution of Chronic Knee Pain Following Chiropractic Care: A Retrospective Case-Series
Background: Chronic knee pain is a prevalent musculoskeletal condition that significantly impairs mobility and quality of life. The objective of this study is to report on outcomes for patients with chronic knee pain who underwent chiropractic care. Methods: A retrospective case-series was conducted by reviewing patient files from a single chiropractic clinic in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The series included three patients who presented with a primary complaint of chronic knee pain and had documented outcomes. The interventions included Gonstead Technique, spinal X-ray analysis, and therapeutic massage. Outcomes were based on qualitative, self-reported changes in symptoms as documented in patient records. Results: The cohort consisted of three patients. Quantitative metrics for pain reduction and mobility improvement were not systematically collected. All three patients reported a complete resolution of their chronic knee pain following a course of chiropractic care. In addition to symptom resolution, patients reported gaining a better understanding of the relationship between spinal alignment and peripheral joint function. Conclusion: The findings in this small case-series suggest that chiropractic care may be a beneficial approach for some patients experiencing chronic knee pain. The observed resolution of symptoms warrants further investigation through more rigorous controlled studies.
