Outcomes of Chiropractic Care for Chronic Lower Back Pain: A Retrospective Case Series from TOPCHIRO Nijmegen
Background: Chronic lower back pain (CLBP) is a prevalent and disabling condition, often necessitating various treatment approaches. This study investigates the outcomes of chiropractic care for patients suffering from CLBP at a single clinical practice. Methods: A retrospective case series was conducted using de-identified patient data from TOPCHIRO Nijmegen – Spinal Correction & Chiropractic Care. Three cases of individuals presenting with CLBP were reviewed to assess the impact of chiropractic interventions. Data collected included chief complaint, baseline status, and post-treatment outcomes, primarily focusing on pain relief and functional improvement. Results: All three patients reported positive outcomes following chiropractic care. Case 1 experienced relief from longstanding lower back pain. Case 2, who had persistent lower back pain since 2011, noted immediate positive changes and ongoing pain reduction. Case 3, with years of unresolved lower back pain, reported complete resolution. While quantitative metrics for pain reduction and mobility were not tracked, qualitative reports indicate significant symptomatic improvement across all cases. Conclusions: The findings from this small case series suggest that chiropractic care may be beneficial for individuals experiencing chronic lower back pain. Further research with larger cohorts and standardized outcome measures is warranted to corroborate these preliminary observations.
