Resolution of Chronic Migraine Headaches Following Multimodal Chiropractic Care: A Retrospective Case Series
Background: Chronic migraine is a debilitating neurological condition that significantly impairs quality of life. While standard care involves pharmacological management, non-pharmacological approaches are often sought. This report examines patient outcomes following chiropractic care for chronic migraine. Methods: A retrospective case series was conducted by reviewing patient files at a single chiropractic clinic in Summerville, South Carolina. Inclusion criteria consisted of patients with a history of chronic migraines who had documented outcomes following a course of care. Data on self-reported pain and qualitative outcomes were extracted and de-identified. Results: Two cases met the inclusion criteria. The mean and median pain reduction reported was 100%. One patient reported complete cessation of migraines and discontinuation of all related medications. A second patient with a confirmed diagnosis of chronic migraine (G43.709) also reported a 100% reduction in migraine frequency and noted significant improvements in energy levels. Conclusion: The findings in this small series suggest that a multimodal approach to chiropractic care may be associated with a significant reduction in symptoms and improved quality of life for some patients with chronic migraines. These preliminary results warrant further investigation through larger, controlled studies to establish causality and generalizability.
