Patient-Reported Outcomes Following General Chiropractic Care: A Retrospective Case-Series from a Single Clinic

Background: Chiropractic care is frequently sought for musculoskeletal complaints and general wellness. While numerous studies exist for specific conditions, there is a need to document outcomes for general care in a private practice setting. This study aims to summarize patient-reported outcomes at a single chiropractic clinic in Zeeland, Michigan. Methods: A retrospective case-series was conducted on a cohort of 28 patients at Back To Health Chiropractic. Data was gathered from existing clinic records, which consisted primarily of qualitative patient testimonials and self-reported experiences. No standardized quantitative outcome measures for pain or mobility were systematically tracked for this group. Results: Quantitative aggregate data for pain reduction and mobility improvement were unavailable. Qualitative analysis of patient reports revealed consistent themes of high satisfaction with the care environment, providers, and perceived outcomes. Case vignettes illustrate patient reports of feeling 'significantly better' within a few visits, achieving 'pain-free' status after adjustments, and long-term satisfaction over a year of care. Conclusion: While this study lacks quantitative metrics, the qualitative findings suggest that patients at this clinic perceive significant benefits and have a high degree of satisfaction with their care. These results highlight the importance of the therapeutic environment and underscore the need for integrating standardized outcome measures in clinical practice to objectively document treatment efficacy.

Patient-Reported Outcomes and Satisfaction with General Chiropractic Care: A Retrospective Case Series

Background: Chiropractic care is frequently sought for musculoskeletal complaints and general wellness. Assessing patient outcomes is crucial for evaluating clinical effectiveness. This study documents patient-reported experiences at a single chiropractic center. Methods: We conducted a retrospective case-series analysis of 28 de-identified patient records from Back To Health Chiropractic, a practice in Zeeland, MI. Data was derived from qualitative patient testimonials. Standardized quantitative metrics for pain or mobility were not systematically tracked for this cohort and were thus excluded from analysis. The analysis focused on identifying common themes in patient-reported outcomes. Results: Quantitative aggregate outcome measures were not available. Qualitative analysis of patient testimonials revealed high levels of satisfaction. Common themes included appreciation for the welcoming and professional environment, a sense of being heard and cared for, and satisfaction with personalized treatment plans. Patients reported subjective improvements, such as feeling 'significantly better,' 'pain-free,' and 'energized.' Timeframes for these perceptions varied from a few weeks to over a year of consistent care. Conclusion: In this case series, patients receiving general chiropractic care reported positive experiences and subjective improvements in well-being. The findings highlight the value patients place on the therapeutic relationship and clinical environment. The lack of quantitative data prevents definitive conclusions regarding clinical efficacy and underscores the need to integrate standardized outcome measures in clinical practice.
