Management of Neck Pain with a Multimodal Chiropractic Approach: A Retrospective Case Series
Background: Neck pain is a prevalent musculoskeletal condition that impairs quality of life. Chiropractic care is a common conservative treatment option. This report details outcomes for patients with neck pain undergoing a multimodal chiropractic protocol. Methods: A retrospective case series was conducted by reviewing patient records at a single private practice in Phoenix, AZ (Hatlen Family Chiropractic). Four cases of patients presenting with neck pain who had documented outcomes were included. The clinical approach integrates techniques such as Chiropractic Neurology and Postural Neurology. Data were derived from qualitative patient reports. Results: Aggregate outcome measures for pain reduction and mobility were not tracked for this cohort. However, individual case reviews revealed consistently positive qualitative outcomes. Patients reported outcomes such as the absence of pain the morning following the initial treatment, complete resolution of ongoing pain, and dramatic reductions in pain with restored mobility. Timeframes for reported improvements ranged from a single day to two months of care. Conclusions: The findings from this small case series suggest that a multimodal chiropractic approach that addresses neurological and postural factors may be effective for providing rapid and substantial relief for patients with neck pain. While promising, these preliminary results require confirmation through more rigorous research designs.
