Chiropractic Care for Peripheral Neuropathy: A Retrospective Case Series from Asuta Health - Overland Park
Background: Peripheral neuropathy, a condition characterized by damage to peripheral nerves, often leads to debilitating symptoms including pain, numbness, and motor deficits. Effective management strategies are crucial for improving patient quality of life. This retrospective case series investigates the outcomes of chiropractic interventions for peripheral neuropathy at a single clinic. Methods: A review of 12 de-identified patient records from Asuta Health - Overland Park was conducted. Patients presented with a chief complaint of peripheral neuropathy. Primary outcome measures included self-reported pain reduction percentages. Mobility improvements were noted where available. Results: Across 12 cases, the mean self-reported pain reduction was 87%, with a median of 92%. Specific cases demonstrated significant improvements, such as resolution of hand numbness, restoration of foot sensation, and reduced reliance on pain medication. One patient experienced an 81% pain reduction and progressed from using a walker to a cane within 10 weeks. Another achieved 95% pain reduction and independently ambulated after being wheelchair-dependent. Conclusions: The findings suggest that chiropractic care at Asuta Health - Overland Park may be associated with substantial symptom improvement, particularly pain reduction, for individuals with peripheral neuropathy. These results warrant further investigation through prospective studies with larger cohorts and standardized objective measures.

Retrospective Case Series: Significant Pain Reduction and Functional Improvement in Peripheral Neuropathy Patients at a Chiropractic Clinic
Background: Peripheral neuropathy presents a significant challenge to patient quality of life, often leading to chronic pain and functional limitations. Traditional therapies offer varying success rates. This retrospective case series investigates the outcomes of chiropractic care for peripheral neuropathy. Methods: We analyzed data from 11 patients presenting with peripheral neuropathy at Asuta Health - Lincoln - Dr. Ole Olson. Inclusion criteria were verified outcomes of patients who underwent care for peripheral neuropathy. Recorded metrics included patient-reported pain reduction percentages and qualitative descriptions of functional improvement. Results: Across 11 cases, the mean pain reduction was 85% (median 84%). Functional improvements, such as restored sensation, improved mobility, and increased activity levels, were frequently reported. Individual cases demonstrated significant improvements, including a patient with bilateral foot numbness achieving 82% pain reduction and another with severe foot burning attaining 91% pain reduction. Conclusions: The findings suggest that patients with peripheral neuropathy undergoing care at this chiropractic clinic experienced substantial pain reduction and functional benefits. These outcomes warrant further investigation through prospective studies to understand the specific mechanisms and broader applicability of these treatment approaches.

Background: Peripheral neuropathy, a common condition often characterized by pain and sensory disturbances, can significantly impair quality of life. Traditional treatments may offer limited relief, prompting interest in adjunctive or alternative therapies. This study retrospectively examines the outcomes of chiropractic care for individuals with peripheral neuropathy at a single clinic. Methods: A retrospective case series was conducted on 15 patients receiving chiropractic care for peripheral neuropathy at Asuta Health - Ankeny. Inclusion criteria involved verified patient outcomes documented at the clinic. Key outcome measures included reported pain reduction and functional improvements. Results: The mean reported pain reduction across 15 cases was 86% (median 88%). Functional improvements, such as restored mobility, improved daily activities, and return to work, were frequently reported. Individual case studies illustrated significant improvements in sensation, pain, and quality of life. Conclusions: These findings suggest that chiropractic care may offer substantial symptomatic relief and functional improvement for patients with peripheral neuropathy. Further research, including controlled trials, is warranted to validate these observations.
