Chiropractic Management of Sciatica: A Retrospective Case Series from a Private Practice in Newark, DE
Background: Sciatica, characterized by radiating leg pain originating from the lumbar spine, significantly impacts quality of life. This study evaluates the outcomes of chiropractic care for patients with sciatica. Methods: A retrospective case series was conducted at Pure Wellness Chiropractic in Newark, DE. Data were extracted from the records of nine de-identified patients with a diagnosis of sciatica who had undergone a course of chiropractic treatment. The primary outcome measure was patient-reported pain reduction, calculated from initial and final numeric pain scores. Results: The cohort (n=9) experienced a mean pain reduction of 87% (median 84%). Patients reported significant functional improvements, including the ability to return to running, sleep through the night, and perform activities of daily living without pain. Care plans were multimodal, incorporating techniques such as spinal decompression, flexion-distraction, and diversified adjustments. Conclusions: The findings suggest that a tailored, multimodal chiropractic approach may provide substantial pain relief and functional improvement for patients with sciatica. These results, while promising, are from a small, uncontrolled series and warrant further investigation through more rigorous controlled trials.

Management of Sciatica with a Multimodal Chiropractic Approach: A Retrospective Case Series
Background: Sciatica is a common and debilitating condition characterized by radiating neuropathic pain. While many treatment options exist, there is continued interest in the effectiveness of non-surgical, conservative approaches. This study evaluates outcomes for sciatica patients treated at a private chiropractic clinic. Methods: A retrospective case series was conducted on 12 patients who presented with sciatica at a single chiropractic center (Elevation Spine Center, Bend, OR). Data were extracted from patient files, including initial and final self-reported pain levels on a 10-point numeric rating scale. The interventions included individualized care plans utilizing Chiropractic BioPhysics (CBP®), spinal adjustments, traction, and corrective exercises. Results: The case series included 12 patients. The mean reduction in self-reported pain was 85% (median 85%). Treatment durations ranged from 5 weeks to 4 months. Case examples include a patient who avoided a recommended spinal surgery, achieving a pain score reduction from 9/10 to 1/10, and another patient with chronic pain for over 15 years who reported complete resolution of symptoms. Conclusions: The findings from this retrospective case series suggest that a structured, multimodal chiropractic protocol may provide significant pain relief for patients with sciatica.

Management of Sciatica with Multimodal Chiropractic Care: A Retrospective Case Series
Background: Sciatica, characterized by radiating pain along the sciatic nerve, is a common and often debilitating condition. Conservative management, including chiropractic care, is a frequent treatment path. This report evaluates patient outcomes following chiropractic treatment for sciatica at a private practice. Methods: A retrospective case series was conducted by reviewing patient files at Pure Wellness Chiropractic - Smyrna. The series included seven adult patients (n=7) with a chief complaint or diagnosis of sciatica. Data on chief complaint, pain severity, treatment duration, and functional outcomes were extracted. Treatment protocols were practitioner-dependent and included various techniques such as Diversified, Thompson, spinal decompression, and flexion-distraction. Results: The cohort of seven patients reported a mean pain reduction of 87% (median 89%). Individual cases demonstrated notable improvements in pain and function. For instance, a male in his 60s with 6/10 pain achieved complete pain resolution (0/10) within four weeks, and a female in her 60s saw her pain decrease from 9/10 to 1/10 in three weeks. Conclusions: The outcomes in this case series suggest that a multimodal chiropractic approach may provide significant pain relief and functional improvement for patients with sciatica. These findings, while positive, are limited by the study design and highlight the need for larger, controlled trials.

Multimodal Chiropractic Care for Sciatica: A Retrospective Case Series of 12 Patients
Background: Sciatica, characterized by radiating pain along the sciatic nerve, is a common and debilitating condition. Conservative management, including chiropractic care, is a primary treatment approach. This report summarizes outcomes for patients with sciatica undergoing care at a private chiropractic clinic. Methods: A retrospective case series was conducted on 12 patients with a chief complaint of sciatica at Palmercare Chiropractic - Mansfield. Data regarding patient-reported pain levels, treatment protocols, and functional outcomes were extracted from clinical records. Interventions were multimodal, including spinal manipulation, spinal decompression, and various physiotherapies. Results: The cohort of 12 patients demonstrated a mean pain reduction of 90% and a median pain reduction of 90% following a course of care. Treatment plans were individualized and often included spinal decompression therapy, Cox Flexion Distraction, and chiropractic adjustments. Case vignettes illustrate significant pain relief, restoration of functional mobility, and avoidance of surgical interventions for patients with initial pain scores as high as 10/10 on a numeric rating scale. Conclusions: The findings from this retrospective case series suggest that a multimodal chiropractic treatment approach may provide substantial pain relief and functional improvement for patients with sciatica. The results support the role of conservative care for this condition, though more rigorous, controlled research is necessary to substantiate these observations.
