Outcomes of Chiropractic Care for Back Pain: A Retrospective Case Series from TOPCHIRO Amstelveen

Background: Back pain is a prevalent musculoskeletal condition affecting a significant portion of the global population, often leading to disability and reduced quality of life. This case series explores the outcomes of chiropractic care for individuals presenting with back pain at a single practice. Methods: A retrospective case series design was employed, analyzing de-identified patient data (n=3) from TOPCHIRO Amstelveen – Spinal Correction & Chiropractic Adjustments in Amstelveen, NH. Inclusion criteria for this analysis comprised patients with a chief complaint of back pain who underwent chiropractic treatment at the clinic and had documented outcomes. Key outcomes examined included qualitative reports of pain reduction and mobility improvement. Due to the nature of the data, quantitative metrics for pain and mobility were not consistently tracked across all cases. Results: The aggregated data for N=3 cases did not include mean pain reduction or mean mobility improvement percentages. Individual case summaries indicate subjective improvements in back pain and functional abilities. For instance, one patient reported being able to stand and cook without pain again, while another experienced significant reduction in ongoing back pain, and a third reported complete elimination of back pain. All included cases reported positive changes following chiropractic intervention, including spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments. Conclusions: This preliminary case series suggests that chiropractic care, encompassing spinal correction and adjustments, may be beneficial for individuals experiencing back pain. These findings support further investigation into the effectiveness of chiropractic interventions for back pain using more robust research designs and standardized outcome measures.

Chiropractic Management of Back Pain: A Retrospective Case-Series of 19 Patients in a Private Practice Setting

Background: Back pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide, for which many individuals seek non-pharmacological care. This article examines patient outcomes following a multi-modal chiropractic approach. Methods: A retrospective case-series was conducted by reviewing the clinical files of 19 patients who presented with a chief complaint of back pain at Sandstone Chiropractic in Cypress, TX. Data on pre-treatment and post-treatment self-reported pain scores were collected and analyzed. Interventions were practitioner-dependent and included a combination of techniques such as Diversified adjustments, Spinal Decompression Therapy, and other physiotherapeutic modalities. Results: Among the 19 patients, the mean reduction in self-reported pain was 82%, with a median pain reduction of 79%. Qualitative reports indicated significant improvements in daily function and comfort. Quantitative data on mobility improvement were not available for analysis. Conclusions: In this small cohort, patients receiving multi-modal chiropractic care for back pain reported substantial improvements in pain levels. These findings suggest this approach may be a viable strategy for managing back pain, though these results must be interpreted with caution given the study's limitations. Further controlled research is necessary to validate these observations.

Chiropractic Management of Back Pain: A Retrospective Case-Series of Four Patients at a Dutch Clinic

Background: Back pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide, often managed with conservative approaches including chiropractic care. This article examines patient-reported outcomes following chiropractic treatment for back pain. Methods: A retrospective case-series was conducted on four patients treated at TOPCHIRO Alphen aan den Rijn. Data were extracted from existing patient records documenting chief complaint and qualitative outcomes for individuals seeking care for back pain. Results: Quantitative aggregate metrics for pain reduction or mobility improvement were not tracked for this cohort. However, individual case descriptions indicated positive outcomes. All four patients reported improvements in their back pain. One patient was anecdotally able to walk comfortably after three treatments. Another reported a "major improvement" in back pain that had been affecting daily activities, while a third noted their persistent back discomfort felt "much better." The final case reported improvement and highlighted the supportive, professional nature of the care received. Conclusion: The findings from this small case-series suggest that chiropractic care may be a beneficial treatment option for individuals experiencing back pain, leading to patient-reported improvements in comfort and function. Further research with standardized measures and control groups is needed.
