Retrospective Case-Series on Chiropractic Care for Back Pain: Outcomes from Foundation Sport & Spine
Abstract
Background: Back pain is a prevalent condition impacting quality of life and productivity. This report examines the outcomes of chiropractic care for back pain at Foundation Sport & Spine. Methods: A retrospective case series of 12 patients presenting with back pain at Foundation Sport & Spine in Arlington Heights, IL, was conducted. Data were collected from patient outcome reports documenting chief complaints, baseline status, and post-treatment improvements. Quantitative measures for pain reduction and mobility improvement were not tracked. Results: All 12 patients reported improvement in their back pain condition, with several achieving significant functional gains, such as returning to regular physical activity (e.g., marathon training) or experiencing immediate pain relief. One patient reported overcoming severe lower back pain that persisted for 8 months despite prior interventions. Conclusions: The observed improvements in back pain patients receiving chiropractic care at Foundation Sport & Spine suggest that various chiropractic techniques, including Muscle Activation Techniques, Be Activated Method, Neurokinetic Therapy, Spinal Decompression, Motion Palpation, Chiropractic Biophysics, Dry Needling, and Sports Rehabilitation, may contribute to positive patient outcomes.
Methods
This retrospective case series analyzes patient outcome data collected from Foundation Sport & Spine, a chiropractic practice located in Arlington Heights, IL, under the direction of Dr. Nate Porcher, DC. The study inclusion criteria were patients who presented with a chief complaint of back pain and whose outcomes were recorded as part of routine clinical practice. Data were aggregated from 12 de-identified patient reports covering the period of their care at the clinic. The methods for assessment at baseline included patient self-reporting of their chief complaint and a qualitative description of their condition. Post-treatment outcomes were also primarily qualitative, focusing on patient-reported improvements in pain levels, function, and overall well-being. Limitations
This retrospective case series has several important limitations.
