Chiropractic Care for General Wellness: A Retrospective Case-Series from SYMETRx Chiropractic and Injury Care
By SYMETRx Chiropractic and Injury Care (Formerly Known as Indelicato Family Chiropractic)
Abstract
Background: General wellness is a broad term encompassing physical and mental health, often sought through prophylactic and health-optimizing interventions. Chiropractic care is frequently utilized by individuals aiming to maintain health, enhance function, and prevent future ailments rather than solely addressing specific pain complaints. This case-series investigates the reported outcomes of patients seeking general wellness at a specific chiropractic practice. Methods: A retrospective case-series design was employed, analyzing de-identified patient outcome data from SYMETRx Chiropractic and Injury Care (Formerly Known as Indelicato Family Chiropractic) in Bradenton, FL. Inclusion criteria involved verified patient outcomes related to general wellness. Outcomes primarily focused on subjective reports regarding overall well-being and satisfaction with care. Results: Data from four patient cases indicated consistent improvements in felt general well-being and positive patient satisfaction. Patients reported feeling 'new again,' 'dramatically better,' and experiencing 'significantly improved quality of life.' Objective measures for pain reduction and mobility improvement were not consistently tracked for this cohort. Conclusions: The findings suggest that chiropractic care at SYMETRx Chiropractic and Injury Care is associated with positive subjective outcomes for individuals seeking general wellness, contributing to improved quality of life and overall well-being. Further research with standardized objective metrics is warranted.
Methods
This retrospective case-series analyzed de-identified patient outcome data from SYMETRx Chiropractic and Injury Care (Formerly Known as Indelicato Family Chiropractic) in Bradenton, FL. The study aimed to describe the experiences of patients receiving chiropractic care specifically for general wellness. Inclusion criteria for this series required that patient outcomes were verified as having occurred at the described practice and primarily focused on subjective reports of general well-being rather than specific pain or mobility complaints. The data for this series were compiled from existing patient records and testimonials, representing a convenience sample of individuals who sought care for general wellness purposes. Metrics captured included chief complaint, baseline health status (as reported by the patient), post-treatment health status, treatment timeframe, and reported key outcomes. Due to the nature of general wellness complaints, objective measures such as pain reduction percentages (e.g., Visual Analog Scale or Numeric Pain Rating Scale) and mobility improvement percentages were not consistently tracked or recorded for this specific cohort. Treatment protocols described by the practice, such as Diversified Technique, Corrective Rehab Exercises, Myofascial Release Therapy, and Nutritional Counseling, reflect the range of services typically offered to patients. However, specific protocols for each individual case were not systematically detailed for this retrospective review. The primary focus of data collection was on qualitative patient-reported improvements in overall health and satisfaction with care. This retrospective design, based on existing clinic data, inherently carries certain limitations, including potential for selection bias and reliance on subjective reporting rather than standardized, objective measurements. Despite these limitations, the design allows for an initial exploration of patient outcomes in the context of real-world clinical practice.
Discussion
The outcomes observed in this retrospective case-series suggest that chiropractic care at SYMETRx Chiropractic and Injury Care is associated with positive subjective experiences for individuals seeking general wellness. The consistent theme across the four cases—reporting enhanced well-being, feeling 'new again,' 'dramatically better,' and experiencing 'significantly improved quality of life'—aligns with the general clinical expectation that chiropractic care can contribute to patients' overall health beyond specific pain relief. While objective measures like pain scales or range of motion were not systematically applied or reported for this wellness cohort, the qualitative data provides valuable insight into patient perception of care. These findings suggest that patients proactively seeking chiropractic care for wellness purposes often perceive tangible benefits in their daily lives, which may include subtle improvements in function, energy levels, and general vitality not always captured by standard clinical metrics focused on pathology. Such improvements are critical to a patient's overall quality of life and are a primary driver for individuals seeking wellness care. The results from SYMETRx Chiropractic and Injury Care appear to be consistent with the broader understanding that chiropractic care, through its focus on spinal and nervous system integrity, can support the body’s homeostatic mechanisms. This support can translate into a better ability to cope with daily stressors, improved physical comfort, and an overall sense of health. The array of techniques offered by the clinic, including diversified adjustments, rehabilitation exercises, and nutritional counseling, likely contributes to a comprehensive approach that addresses multiple aspects of patient wellness. The observed positive outcomes, even in the absence of a primary pain complaint, underscore the potential role of chiropractic care as a component of a preventative and health-optimizing lifestyle. This highlights an important distinction in chiropractic practice where care extends beyond acute symptom management to proactive health maintenance. Future research employing standardized quality of life assessments and patient-reported outcome measures could further quantify these subjective improvements, providing a more robust evidence base for chiropractic care in the general wellness population.
Limitations
This retrospective case-series is subject to several limitations inherent in its design. The retrospective nature means that data collection was not standardized, leading to a reliance on existing patient records and testimonials. This can introduce recall bias and variability in documentation. Furthermore, the study was conducted at a single chiropractic clinic, SYMETRx Chiropractic and Injury Care (Formerly Known as Indelicato Family Chiropractic), which limits the generalizability of the findings to other chiropractic practices or diverse patient populations. The outcomes captured were predominantly self-reported subjective measures, without consistent objective metrics for pain or mobility; thus, the perceived improvements lack independent quantification. The absence of a control group also restricts the ability to ascertain causality or differentiate benefits from natural recovery or other concurrent lifestyle factors. Finally, the convenience sampling method introduces potential selection bias, as patients who provided testimonials or continued care likely had positive experiences, potentially overshadowing those with less favorable outcomes. These limitations suggest that the findings are exploratory and should be interpreted with caution.
